Games, Media and Art Course Director

1 FTE (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

£38,916 per annum

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Course Director of Games, Media and Art to join our college of technology.

At BCoT we are passionate about ‘Building Careers of Tomorrow’ so we are looking to recruit a Course Director who:

• Has a passion for their subject and the ability to make their subject come alive with inspirational and interactive lessons which challenge and support all pupils to secure the best outcomes.

• Is an excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge.

• Demonstrates ambitious standards and has high expectations for all pupils ensuring that there is a robust curriculum and assessment framework underpinned by a strong extra-curricular provision leading to excellent EQA inspections with the AO’s.

• Has a record of raising standards and maintaining them each academic year.

• Has excellent organisation skills and can lead a department with communication and interpersonal skills whilst considering the wellbeing of staff.

• Can drive forward strategic priorities of the college and translate these into practical actions in day to day tasks.

• Demonstrates professionalism in all aspects of the role.

• Be able to demonstrate current and up-to-date industry knowledge.

• Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom.

To be successful you will have a teaching qualification with a minimum of 2 years teaching up to Level 3. A relevant vocations qualification to Level 3 along with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience is essential. An assessor qualification would be desirable.

Candidates without formal teaching qualifications or limited teaching experience are encouraged to apply if; they have relevant industry background, they can demonstrate excellent up to date knowledge and able to demonstrate outstanding teaching through an assessed micro teach. There will be a requirement to work towards teaching qualifications during employment (some financial assistance may be available).

This role can provide excellent preparation for a subsequent move to Senior Leadership which the successful candidate may be aspiring to in the next few years.
