Job Coach

Salary: £19,940 - £20,673 pa FTE

Actual Salary: £11,964 - £12,403 per annum

Contract Details: Permanent, 1154.4 Annualised hours, 52 weeks per year

This is an annualised hours role to accommodate the need for higher weekly working hours for the period October to May when students require more support; weekly working hours will be lower for the period June to September. You will always have at least one day off a week. Wherever possible at least one week’s notice will be given for changes to your weekly working hours. Your salary will be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.

About the role:

Do you want to make a difference to a young person’s life? New college Swindon’s Supported Internship programme has been a fantastic success in supporting young people with learning difficulties and disabilities into work, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Job Coach to work with our Supported Internship team, providing employment opportunities for learners with additional needs and creating a bridge from education to employment. 

As a Job Coach, you will work closely with the student and use vocational profiling to truly understand the best possible employment direction for them. Once a young person has secured a work placement you will work with them and their employer to support them in the workplace and will be a key link between employer, student, teacher and parents/carers.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the Lead Job Coach in providing an outstanding provision for both students and employers
  • Support interns to be successful in their employment, provide an appropriate level of support and guidance in the workplace using Systematic Instruction
  • Engage with employers to develop appropriate and realistic employment opportunities young people on a Supported Internship

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and mathematics
  • Hold a level 3 Certificate for Supported Employment Practitioners - desirable 
  • Youth work or teaching qualification - desirable
  • Up to date working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
  • Experience of working in the field of Supported Employment - desirable
