Laboratory Technician

York Campus

Full Time, 37 hours per week, full year

£20,456 - £21,657 per annum

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Arboriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Professional Tree Surgery, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness and Uniformed Public Services.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician with a Degree, or equivalent, level Science based qualification to join our Science Team here at our York campus. This role will be working 37 hours per week over 52 weeks on a permanent basis with 35 (plus Bank Holidays) days of bookable Annual Leave.

We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for day-to-day laboratory activities to provide support for all departments across all Askham Bryan sites. Occasional support at other sites may be required. Sector experience and knowledge specifically in a biological discipline will be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be organised, self-motivated, and knowledgeable with excellent communication skills. They will be responsible for ensuring that the Science department is prepared and able to deliver to curriculum deadlines while being flexible and approachable, interacting daily with the Science Centre Manager, staff and students.

Educated to degree level or above in a relevant scientific subject. With knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety, including manual handling, and shown IT skills in Microsoft Office.
