Learner Support Assistant

About the College

Hugh Baird College is a large, dynamic Further Education College, in Merseyside, with an ambitious strategic plan. As a College we are striving to be outstanding in all that we do and all of our staff make an important contribution to creating an environment that exceeds the expectations of our students, parents and employers.

Overview

In this role you will provide high quality academic or vocational support to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities during scheduled teaching and learning sessions. This support will be either to individuals or small groups of students who are enrolled on College courses. During scheduled class times, the Academic Support Worker will take his/her lead and direction from the lecturer responsible for the class.

You will take part in lesson planning discussions with allocated class lecturer(s) to ensure that the content, aims/objectives and therefore the required session support are clear and understood by all parties.

The successful candidates will hold a minimum of a level 3 qualification, have excellent communication and organisation skills, be empathetic and have a good understanding of the differing needs of young people.

These are term time only multiple positions, with a variety of flexible hours available. (34 weeks of the academic year)

Further to this we have available, part time fixed term posts until the end of June 2023 to provide 1:1 with high needs students with complex needs, with the potential for these roles to be extended to the following academic year.
