We are looking for part-time Learning Mentors to join our Maths and English teams at Lytchett Minster School working 30 hours per week; the postholder will be required to complement the professional work of teachers by providing support to enhance the development and achievement of students studying KS3 - KS4 English and Maths. These are fixed term positions until 31st August 2023 to start as soon as possible. On your application, please specify if you are applying for the Maths, or the English Learning Mentor vacancy.

The role of Learning Mentor requires an enthusiastic, committed individual with a talent for engaging students. This is a great opportunity for a gap year student or someone looking to gain experience before joining the teaching profession.

Lytchett Minster is a successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school with approximately 1550 students, 263 of whom are in the exceptional sixth form. The learning environment is stunning with extensive and beautiful grounds; the school site is comprised of South Lytchett Manor House together with a number of modern extensions including the Arts block and theatre. We pride ourselves on our high standards and positive ethos, the school is popular and highly regarded in the community.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure and acceptable references.

The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
