Salary of £13,625.33 to £17,027.75 (pro rata of £23,463.00 to £29.322.00)

Basingstoke College of Technology has a vacancy for a Specialist Support Tutor to provide one-to-one and small group Additional Learning Support (ALS) to a range of learners.

You will work closely with BCoT’s learners with declared learning difficulties and disabilities. You will be required to have a calm, unflappable approach and differentiate to meet learner needs.

Duties will involve supporting learners on a one to one or small group basis outside of their lessons. You would offer guidance with assignments, support to manage time and workload, support with literacy and numeracy skills, development of social skills and other issues as required. You would work with the learning support team to run a daily lunch time social session for students with additional needs.

You would need to liaise with departments across college about your learners and work with external partners when required.

You will possess a strong track record of working with learners who have Additional Learning Support needs (including Dyslexia, ASD and physical and sensory impairments) with demonstrable experience in supporting reading and language acquisition. Experience in an FE environment is desirable, but not essential.
