Working as part of the Student Support Services team at the College's Cambridge Campus, you will be responsible for supporting students to behave as responsible and respectful members of the college community, assisting with all departments to create a safe learning setting for all students.

Reporting to the student liaison coordinator, the role of an SLO is varied and challenging daily, working alongside all departments within the college to ensure that students are given the knowledge and confidence to make positively informed decisions.

SLO’s are on the front-line, requiring them to be able to think on their feet and make decisions on all varied situations ensuring that student welfare and safeguarding are paramount. Working closely with the safeguarding team you will also be required to assist with situations that require discretion and an amount Empathy.

This role requires the SLO’s to meet and greet students and create a presence in common areas to help make a welcoming pro-actively safe environment, directing students to different departments and assisting them in decision making. Whilst also being on call throughout the day to help with any situations that may arise within the college grounds.

It is essential that the successful candidate has previous experience of working or volunteering with young people in either an education, social care, or youth work background, as well as GCSE Maths and English grade A-C.

We are seeking an inspirational individual who can communicate effectively and appropriately with young people; establishing a rapport with the students to enable them to achieve and make positive change.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of young peoples’ aspirations and challenges and the ability to deal with problems and incidents calmly and constructively.

This is a rewarding role in which the individual will contribute to the college’s enrichment strategy, supporting student’s personal development, behaviour and attitudes.
